A 10' non-battered enclosed timber tower with a Region 5 4A 14'x14' live in wood cab was constructed here in 1918. This was replaced in the 1930's with an L-1600 Series 30' steel K-Brace tower with a Region 5 BC-301 design 14'x14' live in wood cab.
Cuyamaca Peak was incorporated into Cuyamaca Rancho State Park in 1933. The Cleveland National Forest continued to operate the lookout through 1975. The lookout was demolished and burned in 1985.
