Lookout Mountain is also known as "Old Baldy Lookout" or "Baldy Lookout Mountain". The peak is located just northwest of Baldy Village. A lookout was never located on 10,046 foot Mt. Baldy (Mt. San Antonio).
The lookout is the classic and first California Region 5 Plan 4A. The 6 window panels and high hip roof constructed in 1915 on a 20 foot enclosed timber tower.
The lookout was reported damaged by severe weather in 1926 or 27 and was dismantled and replaced by Sunset Peak lower down San Antonio Canyon in 1927.
Lookout Mountain has been suggested as the same site as Fuego Vista Lookout on the Angeles. The 2 structures appear to vary in tower height and window details.
