Description
Sierra Pelona Lookout was constructed sometime between 1934 and 1936 by the Angeles National Forest. The structure is a California Region 5 Plan BC-301 cabin atop a 30 foot K-Brace steel tower.
Heavy winds gusts to 100 mph were frequently recorded at Sierra Pelona. A windstorm caused enough damage to the lookout to require an evacuation of the operator in 1956.
Sierra Pelona was active as to at least 1976.
