Lookout Details
Description
This 50' steel tower was a joint venture between Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont, all paying some of the costs of its operation. The town of Williamstown donated $300 toward the tower. Some of this was to enable public access via a ladder to the tower. The tower was first operated in 1915. This was one of two towers constructed to replace the semi-blind site at the top of Mount Greylock in Adams. The other site was Savoy. The tower was staffed until 1923. All that remains of this tower are the footings.
