"Cedar Mountain" (Bearfort) was originally a "tree lookout" succeeded by a 1909 "pipe" structure built by the watershed. This was in turn replaced by a totally enclosed wood lookout with inside stairway. It was used from 1916 until 1932 when it was accidently destroyed by fire. In 1937 the Forest Fire Service then had built a 68' steel fire tower still in use today as an active fire tower. Bearfort fire tower is already listed on the NHLR.
