This was a "lookout" observation post built by area fire wardens. It was made of native timber cut from the woods with a crude ladder attached to one side. Many of these were built in the Pinelands very early also at Dukes Bridge, Tabernackle and Whites Bog. Some even predated the establishment of the State Forest Fire Service on July 4, 1906.
