In 1928, twin 100' spar trees were tied together with a platform on top. In 1943, a 128' three-legged steel tower (salvaged from an oil company sign) with a retractable cab that was lowered to the ground each winter was built. This tower was severely damaged in the 1962 Columbus Day hurricane. In 1963, the tower was salvaged at 105' and fitted with a 10'x10' cab. Abandoned in 1965, the tower was gone by 1978.
