Olallie Mountain Lookout leads off the second hundred listings in the NHLR. It is a very special place. Built in 1930 by the U.S. Forest Service, it is located at the head of French Pete Creek in the Willamette National Forest. The 14’ x 14’ L-4 ground house has not been staffed for many years. It is the site where the Oregon Lookout Association was founded in 1991. The group later became the largest state chapter of the Forest Fire Lookout Association.
The tower was in the process of being restored when it burned in 2019.
