Description
This steel lookout was built by the Virginia Department of Forestry in the late 1930s. It was removed in the 1970s. Only concrete footers remain as of 2018. A cabin at the base of the tower provided lodging for lookouts.
Mr. Seaman (radio call sign KID-363) was a lookout at this site in the early 1960s. His son Kennan recalls visiting the site with his father, who showed him how the Osborne Fire Finder was used.
