Description
Twice featured in National Geographic Magazine, Flattop Mountain Lookout in Washington's Gifford Pinchot National Forest had a stunning view of Mt. Adams. The two story ground house with 12' x 12' cab featuring slanted solid glass windows, was to have been a prototype replacement for the standard U.S. Forest Service lookout in the Pacific Northwest, but the relatively mundane R-6 flattop design won out.
This tower was disassembled by 2025.
