Relocated to the Grand Encampment Museum in 1986, this lookout was originally located in Carbon County, Wyoming.
Slash Ridge Lookout was built in 1949 and was taken out of service in the 1970s when the U.S. Forest Service decided to go to aerial detection and downsized their staffed fire lookouts. Blackhall, Kennaday and Medicine Bow Peaks overlooked the same area and Slash Ridge was declared surplus. In 1986, the lookout was moved to the Grand Encampment Museum where it serves as a popular tourist attraction.
