Markleeville lookout was a unique design constructed for the Mono National Forest in 1940, which was divided into the Inyo and Toiyabe National Forests in 1945. The site atop Mogul Peak overlooked the Carson River and Wolf Creek drainages.
Removal date is unknown. Only the foundation remains.
